FAQs
Here you will find frequently asked questions. Feel free to email Maia if you have a question that isn’t listed here.
After your session, I’ll give you specific ways to honor and integrate what has returned. This might include journaling, creating art, spending time in nature, or simple rituals to welcome your soul essences home. You’ll also receive suggestions for not sharing too much too soon—your healing deserves protection and time to settle.
I do not conduct healing sessions for anyone who has used alcohol or street drugs within 24 hours of our session. This is a firm and non-negotiable boundary. The work is sacred, and your energy must be clear to receive it fully and safely.
Yes. Shamanic healing can complement other forms of care, including therapy, bodywork, and medical treatment. It is not a substitute for professional mental health care—but many people find that spiritual healing helps unlock or accelerate emotional and physical healing.
No. Shamanic healing is spiritual but not religious. It predates organized religion by tens of thousands of years and is practiced across cultures and continents. People from all belief systems are welcome.
A healing journey is what I undertake on your behalf during soul retrieval or power animal work. A shamanic journey is a practice you can learn to do yourself—often in workshops or training—with the intention of seeking guidance or insight in Non-Ordinary Reality.
Yes—everyone has at least one power animal. A power animal is a spiritual ally that offers protection, strength, and guidance. They are not pets, but wild, sacred beings from the spirit world. You may already feel a connection to yours through dreams, symbols, or synchronicities—even if you haven’t consciously met them yet. They are also referred to as spirit animal, totem, or animal guide.
You may not consciously know. But common signs include:
-
Feeling disconnected or emotionally flat
-
Chronic fatigue or apathy
-
A sense of “losing yourself” after a specific event
-
Ongoing patterns that therapy hasn’t resolved
-
Feeling like something changed or “left” after trauma or illness
You don’t need to have a clear memory. Your soul knows what it’s ready to reclaim.
Soul retrieval is a healing journey to recover vital soul essences that separated during trauma, illness, fear, or deep emotional pain. When these essences leave, people often feel fragmented, numb, disconnected, or “not quite themselves.” Soul retrieval helps restore wholeness and energy by bringing these lost or protective aspects back home.
A shaman is traditionally someone who is chosen by their community—often after a near-death experience, long illness, or profound spiritual calling—and recognized for their ability to mediate between worlds. A shamanic practitioner is someone trained in the principles and practices of shamanic healing, but who has not undergone a traditional tribal initiation. I am a shamanic practitioner, trained under respected teachers, and I approach this work with humility and deep respect.
You can find current pricing on the Book a Session page. I also offer a limited number of sliding scale sessions for those in genuine financial need. Healing should be accessible—but it should also be reciprocal. Money is a form of energy exchange, and when someone pays fairly, it supports not only their own healing, but helps sustain the work for others.
If you’re unable to pay the full rate, I offer a complimentary consultation to explore your situation. I listen closely—and sometimes journey on it—to ensure that the exchange is honest and aligned. Integrity matters in both directions.
